What's In a Name? Posted January 25
Trinity is the name of our church, but what does that mean? What is the Trinity, and why should we spend time thinking about such a difficult and confusing doctrine when life throws enough problems our way?
Pastor Tim Keller helpfully shows that the gospel is both simple and infinitely profound when he summarizes that the gospel is not merely the ABC's of the Christian faith, but also the A through Z.
The Gospel: ABC's
A simple gospel summary can be stated like this: GOD created man in his image, MAN rebelled against the creator, JESUS CHRIST lived the life we should have lived and died the death we should have died so we could be free from guilt. We must RESPOND to this good news by turning away from our sin and trusting in the finished cross-work of Jesus. When we do, we are TRANSFORMED more and more into the likeness of Jesus. Eventually God will RENEW everything and completely rid our world of Satan, sin, and death. For a fuller presentation on how to respond to the gospel, click here.
The Gospel: A thru Z
The gospel is not merely for the day we are saved and/or the day we stand before God, but for everyday in between too. The gospel progressively transforms us as we continue to walk in light of this good news. Again, Keller shows the importance of keeping the gospel central to our lives and highlights several perspectives of the gospel.
