Your Kid Toddled Upon Our Friendship

July 11, 2011 by Brandon Rogers

In the July edition of Philadelphia Magazine, Emily Goulet wrote a brief but fascinating piece about several examples of women who, prior to having kids, were good friends. But once their children came along, they found it much harder to remain so. You could probably think of several logistical reasons why (less energy for friendships, less time for friendships, different nap schedules, different schools, etc.). And yet those reasons are not what the article is addressing. Goulet's observation is that it's due to two primary reasons: 1) A convictional difference in parenting methods and 2) The behavior of their friend's kids.
