Here is an article posted on CNN.com asking the question, "Where is God in the suffering of Japan?" This is an important question, because we live in a world of profound suffering. Japan is the most recent evidence on a large scale, but suffering is experienced daily. Whether it's experienced at the hands of other people, or at the hands of a natural disaster, it certainly leaves everyone (or at least theists) asking, "Where is God in this?"
