Slavery: Here and Now
This Sunday morning Mark preached from Psalm 10, which is a prayer to God about the oppression of the weak in Israel. One example he gave us of modern day oppression was the epidemic of human trafficking across the world and in our very own country.
For those of you who were not with us on Sunday, we watched the short video below made by Love146. Many of us had never been confronted so powerfully with the reality of human trafficking before seeing this video. The realities are disturbing and yet we cannot ignore what is happening.
Justin Holcomb recently wrote an article giving us even more insight into what is going on. He outlines the global problem, its (surprising) extent in the U.S. and ends by giving some ways that you and I can immediately get involved.
To learn more about this very real form of slavery and oppression, and to find organizations that are actively working toward prevention and rehabilitation like Love146, go here:

If you find yourself in shock after seeing what is going on around us, remember God's answer. Ultimately, the message of the Gospel is that sin is too terrible for us to deal with on our own. We need a Savior, to redeem us, to heal us, and to show us a new way. So as a redeemed people, let's not turn a blind eye to the effects of sin all around us. Part of living out the good news of Jesus Christ is involving ourselves in daily acts of renewal and reconciliation in issues just like this.
